rent-a-car directions
out the airport, hang a right onto interstate
101 north. after merging freebound, u will see
san bruno mountain soon looming on yer left.
hollywoodesque, i suppose, it has the insignia:
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
CITY OF INDUSTRY
jumpin' out at ya in king kong sized white letters
as u wind to the right of the mountain, you will
end up on a straightaway that will clearly be submerged
as the icecaps melt. as long as ALL of anarctica is
spared, (west antarctica alone giving 170 feet of sea level)
most of san fran will have its head above water.
if u look to the left, and squint REAL hard
(perhaps shotgun only should attempt this, or rear)
u may discern the cow palace auditorium far in the distance.
at the end of the low-lying area, the signs read,
3-COM Park
this is the renamed and i guess increasingly defunct
site of the stadium formerly known as candlestick.
keep straight. chill.
there r a few what i would call mountains,
(i think native californians might call them hills),
but yer goal here will be to ease yer way leftward
lanewise. the tangle of green sides u should follow
in this phase would be the left exit that reads
'mission fell.' upon acheiving this aim, a new goal
is the right choice now, rather than the left in terms
of lanes. now the fell option is less than right
(though far from distastrous, fell being parallel and
north of herman), mission duboce is the proper
option. at this point ur in a deceleration lane.
agin right, to duboce is what u want.
the j-peg to the right depicts the scenic
skyscrapers u will get a clear view of if u goof real
bad, the main I-101, the mission-fell spur, and the
mission-duboce deceleration lane. the white
line there is attempting to be labeled,
'duboce' for duboce street (? they rn't good
about designations like 'avenue' or 'boulevard'
in frisco).
the big black 'X' is yer approximate target,
and that white mess north of thar is the contingency
that u goof during the mission-duboce versus fell
option so hang a left at some point thereupon.
if u squint real hard and yer eyes don't pop out
inna process, u will recognize that one of the streets
on this third graphic to the left of these words
(hopefully yer browser does justice to the flowover
html default format here heh {:})
u may take note that there is indeed a street named
duboce here, i plum reckon.
there also happens to be a park of the same name
to the left (indeed, west) end of the map shaded
green, but u may not be able to make out that mess.
duboce does a funny jog past the anvil-looking grey
mass vaguely toward the east of center part of the
representation that happens to be the san francisco
mint. when u approach, u will be on the far
eastward portion of duboce street part of which in
the center behind the safeway supermarket
(big red 'S') is actually i think not called duboce,
but rather, reservior or some such, and is currently
a backalleyway sort of bikepath-to-be in the dreams
of the critical-massters. it used to be a one way
(eastbound, bad fer yer current theoretical situation),
automotive-drivable thoroughfare, but no such currently as it is.
hence, yer target is south of the border, the brown bell.
umm.. heh {:} i made this with no taco bell logo accessible.
one of those Col. Sanders hybrid do-dads, it is.
yer best option now is a quick right, methinks, though noting
the location of the orange ball 76 sign, especially perhaps
in need of those terrible icecap melting fossil fuels,
u might consider the equivalent pseudoromboid therabouts.
it might seem apparent that options abounds, but be warned,
the large diagnol swath-cutting mega-thruway named market
street (allegedly.. i know.. gots to make a new graphic {:} )
is a cruel, unforgiving mistress of no left turns, she is.
the 'simple' option, following her, left at the Church steet
(orange MUNI station is labeled) is clearly a goose chase
ruanaround. not my choice, no sir. ::sigh::
the 'hood assoc.
